The World Wide Web is a place where there needs to be a constant progress in technology and designs. One same pattern of website or a design will not be able to hold its audience for long. This is why the virtual world keeps on changing.
When you visit a website on your PC you see it in a particular screen resolution. When you shrink your browser the contents of the images react to the same, they keep on shrinking as per the browser’s size. With new technologies like Tablet and Smartphone coming into market, media and marketing companies like us have noticed a dramatic change in our audience.
It is important for us to change according to our audience’s expectation, and the companies that don’t understand this may face terrible fall in their market.

The Soft Technology Year

Personal computer, laptops, notebooks, and ultrabook are together a category that has been running the world of computers till this year. 2012 had seen many technological changes in terms of both hardware and software. Different types of Tablets and other devices started to replace the sales of computers. This also affected the soft technology (software). Now for different types of Smartphone, Tablet, and other such devices new apps and additional software are necessary, so that the users can browse the internet through these devices in the best way possible.

Throughout the world there is a sharp fall in the sales of PC nearly 30% of fall was seen this year in the US while 25% in eastern countries. Now as Tablet has started capturing the market it is necessary that we design our websites keeping this in mind. It is not possible to develop thousands of apps for the same number of devices, so it is better that we practice making websites that is equally compatible with all devices.
It is the time we start with Responsive Web Design. What this methodology does is a simple ‘media queries’. Media queries do the work of research, it finds out the resolution on which the device can work better. Now, you may be thinking why is that important? Well, when you open a website on any of the web browsers (Chrome, Firefox, etc.) what you see is a column of contents and as you shrink the browser you experience the contents shrinking and the same with zooming. These contents don’t fit the device’s screen, whereas with progressive web design the website will be fit to your device’s screen resolution, regardless the device you use.

2013 Or the Year of Responsive Web Design

Across the world our sites are visited from thousands of different devices and our research wing has stated that the number of devices will increase by 2013. For online publications and media companies like us, it is a good news, as our reach will widen and there will be no limit to our site’s visibility. But this is only possible when these companies choose to upgrade their sites to responsive web.
This is the next step of web design and it offers a great viewing experience to the users.
